How To Complete A Make-Up

Read a variety of current articles in our Programs section and/or choose articles from our Archived Programs list and/or information from our Avenues of Service pages. You will be required to answer questions. There is space on the makeup request form for up to three articles to be reviewed, however you will need to read more than three to meet your 30 minute visit obligation.

At the end of your 30 minute visit click on Make-up Request Form from the drop-down menu at top of page OR the bottom of each make-up program.

Read Makeup Request Form carefully, and follow instructions. A Make-Up Form will appear once you press the SUBMIT button (one time only) and an email copy will be sent to the email address you provided.

PRINT YOUR MAKE-UP FORM

Once your make-up appears, if you know the email address, you can also click on File, Send and email a copy to your club secretary.

Remember, as Greeter this week, you need to arrive at Olivers, to register visiting Rotarians, and guests (collect guest lunch fee of $16.00). You also provide the pre-meal prayer, check attendance, announce guests and visiting Rotarians, manage the marble drawing and provide "Fun & Frolics." If you are unable to fulfill your greeter obligation, please contact the next person in the greeter rotation to take your place.

Middle Eastern Earthquake

Yesterday, President Dave forwarded an email regarding Shelter Box and the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.

This morning, I pulled this from the BBC News website -

More than 17,000 people are now known to have died after Monday's earthquakes in southern Turkey and northern Syria

Without shelter, water, fuel or electricity the World Health Organization fears many survivors could yet lose their lives
It says there's a danger there will be a secondary disaster which may cause harm to more people than the initial quake
Six UN lorries carrying aid have now crossed the border from Turkey into Syria - the first international help people there have had
Rescuers in both countries are continuing their painstaking work but hopes are fading for the many still trapped under the rubble
British charities have launched an appeal to raise funds for people affected

Our club has sponsored many Shelter Boxes over the years, having them out to present to the club and on display at our fundraising events. I don't know if our boxes will be deployed to Syria or Turkey - or were sent to Ukraine, Haiti, Iran - but this is why that past effort was significant.

Weekend in Woodstock

Groundhog Day Weekend also used to be our Weekend in Woodstock (WIW for short) when we would host exchange students from all around the district. And way back we hosted exchange students from two districts.

This picture is from 2015 and was at the Challenger Space Center. The kids ran one of the missions.

That year, we hosted two students - Vivi and Olivia. Also pictured are three future outbound students that were sponsored by our club - Sophie Rogers (Chile), Kelsey Morefield (Austria) and Jade Bellairs (Japan) in the picture. You may also find a McGrath and a Buckley in there. Not pictured are the Cullottas and the Speciales, but they were always front and center for Weekend in Woodstock.

Groundhog Day Weekend

In case you missed it - Woodstock Willie saw his shadow - the first sunny day in five weeks had to be Thursday. We are facing six more weeks of winter!

And to just give that extra kick in the teeth - none of us reading this (or writing this) won the early bird drawing for the Jeep raffle. Apparently, the Jeep Committee has been extra good at selling tickets this year and competition was high.

But Friday made it all worth it. We had a great turnout for First Friday at Wayne's Lanes. If you didn't make it, be sure to go check it out. Ed and some handy elves have helped update and freshen it up.

We even got a picture of our Rotarians, families and friends with Woodstock Willie.

A handful of things to take away from the photo

Willie is a brave rodent to walk around town after committing us to six more weeks of winter.
If you look at the photo, only Lloyd and Dave were drinking.
I also don't know what kind of isolated but strong gravitational pull Willie has, but he was pulling the whole first row down into crouches.

We have had two great turnouts in a row for First Friday. Let's keep that going.
