Remember, as Greeter this week, you need to arrive at Woodstock Country Club, to register members, visiting Rotarians, and guests (collect guest lunch fee of $18.00). You also provide the pre-meal prayer, check attendance, announce guests and visiting Rotarians, manage the marble drawing and provide "Fun & Frolics." If you are unable to fulfill your greeter obligation, please contact the next person in the greeter rotation to take your place.
Your Board of Directors have been active in working out a viable budget for this Rotary year as well as tending to other business. In the last 30 days we have had three BOD meetings.
Topics:
Youth Exchange Student—our regular Friday meeting of a couple of weeks ago say an enthusiastic response to hosting a male exchange student beginning Jan. of 2024 and running through December 2024. Enthusiasm alone, of course, does not pay for expenses nor does it discover host families. Thus far, we have shifted some budgetary items to cover projected expenses and discovered two of the three families for serving as host-families.
Blessings in a Backpack will again reach both of our public high schools. Our budget is being trimmed after doubling expenses when the Woodstock North was added last year. Nevertheless, additional resources are being sought to fill the budgetary gap created by our own limited resources.
Happy Buck$--Each week we ask all of our members to participate in contributing $1.00 to the basket on the table. These weekly funds will go toward the expenses of having our international student(s).
International Service—We also voted to send $500.00 to Mexico for the roof restoration of a library in Huatulco. This project was initially begun through the Deerfield Rotary Club. There is an immediate need for $5200.00 of which the Deerfield club has already raised $3k more…leaving $2,200.00.
New Members—be sure to give a warm welcome to those now attending who are in process of becoming members of our Rotary Club.
