The Rotary Club of Woodstock was officially chartered on Monday, April 22, 1968 with a membership of thirty-one (31) individuals. More than 350 Rotarians and friends of Rotary attended the Charter ceremonies, held at the Moose Lodge in Woodstock. 

In 2003 the Club celebrated its 35th Anniversary and continues to serve as an important asset to the Woodstock community through its commitment to the ideals of Rotary International and through the Four Avenues of Rotary Service - Club, Community, International and Vocational.  The following is a snapshot of the Rotary Club of Woodstock's activities and accomplishments over the last 37+ years:

  • 1968 - Initiated development of the Woodstock Rescue Squad; became actively involved in the Youth Exchange Program;
  • 1970 - Began annual project to collect money for Easter Seals;
  • 1971 - Started annual Art Auction Project to raise funds for community projects and youth exchange activities;
  • 1972 - Started Christmas Clearing House as a Rotary project;
  • 1973 - Held first Weekend In Woodstock, hosting Youth Exchange Students from throughout District 6440 for a full weekend;
  • 1974 - Joined with Hibbing, MN Rotary Club in sponsoring the Irish Children Program, contributing funds towards the hosting of one young Irish child;
  • 1975 - Charter Member Joseph A. Conerty passes away;
  • 1976 - Joe Conerty Award is established, to be given to a Woodstock Rotarian making an exceptional contribution to Rotary as well as to his community;
  • 1977 - Weekend In Woodstock expanded to include District 6450 and 6270; four Paul Harris Fellows awarded;
