Yesterday we got an email through the website from someone making a referral for CCH. He had a family that needed help. This is not unique.
But what was special and meaningful was that this person was a recipient in the past and in his words:
"You guys do great work and literally saved Christmas for my family a few years ago so thank you, we will be volunteering for delivery this year. Have a great day and happy holidays!"
Every year we hear stories like this - people who needed our help at some point in the past. And now are ready to pay it forward (or backwards - however you want to look at it.) When we get into the thick of it, when we are managing the myriad details, when the chair of CCH is browbeating you, remember this story and that you are literally saving someone's Christmas.
