We sent our great exchange student home last week and now we need to get ready for a new student, a new experience.  Start thinking of things to do to introduce them to our community and to make them comfortable in their new environment.  It doesn't have to be fancy.  Dinner at your house is a good way to break the ice and get to know them.

Don't forget that Wendy needs more volunteers this year to help as the route is longer and it will probably be hotter than last year.  And if you can walk or run the route, sign up.  Volunteers will need to be at the band stand by 7 AM.

Country ramblings: Summer has finally arrived with plenty of moisture carry over from the wettest Spring on record.  Unfortunately, it has resulted in many farm fields un-planted due to the high soil moisture which delayed the planting until  it was too late.  Even gardens were planted very late do to soil conditions.  The recent heat wave checked the mosquito population temporarily, but they will be back with a vengeance now that we have rain again.  But don't let the little devils ruin your summer.  Walk during the day when the mosquitoes are staying out of the sun.  Get outside and enjoy it. (and leave the phone at home).
