Hi
A most earnest hello from Community service! I wanted to update you on the good work OUR club is doing:
1. Blessings in a backpack: Gene and his wife continue to shop every week to provide 19 families from Woodstock High School with much needed fresh meat, veggies and dairy. Give Gene a big high five 🙌 the next time you see him. We are also providing household items on a per month basis as needed. The teachers continue to deliver the food to the students’ homes to create a strong connection between school, family and community.
2. Operation Warm: brrrr, autumn chill is upon us and it’s time to bring our winter coats out of the recesses of our closets. And just in time for the cold weather, 12 boxes of winter jackets were delivered last week to School District 200 for the students that do not have warm coats this winter season.
3. Community Service Grant: The Community Service Grant committee met this past taco Tuesday to eat tacos and ‘taco’ about the important non profit organizations in our community and how much money we can grant them to support their mission. The committee chose to award 8 community organizations a grand total of $8000. NEW THIS YEAR- we will be presenting their grant to the organizations at a Chamber Mixer at Stage Left Cafe on November 14th from 5-7 pm. Save the date! Submitted by Jackie Speciale.
