This is the time of year when we look back to the old year and forward to the new year.  Here are some of the things we were told that were good for us.  Are if you agree.   EXERCISE could help your brain stay young and lower your chances of cancer. In a study involving 900 adults, those who did little or no regular physical activity experienced  cognitive decline equivalent to 10 more years of aging compared to their more active peers . CARBS may not be so bad after all. A study of more than 23,000 Italians found that those sho ate more pasta actually tended to have a lower body mass index. SEX may keep older people mentally sharp. a British study showed that the sexually active participants scored higher in memory test and other cognitive measures. They are looking for more volunteers for another study. Do you think they will have trouble finding volunteers? DIRT helps children stave off allergies. Being clean may not really be next to Godliness. BOOKS may make you live longer. A Yale study showed that those adults that read about 30 minutes daily actually lived about 2 years longer than the non readers. CUTTING CALORIES may improve your entire quality of life those in the study that reduce their caloric intake lost weight, slept better, were in better moods  and had an enhanced sex drive. They will probably be applying for the British sex study. FRIENDS AND FAMILY can be as important  to your health as diet and exercise.  I guess this depends on your friends and relatives.

Here are some things they said we were told to avoid.  ALCOHOL is even worse for us than we thought. Drinking now accounts  for more fatalities than overdoses from prescription pain killers and heroin combined. Other research  found that alcohol is a direct cause of at least  seven forms of cancer. Whatever happened to the two glasses of red wine?? OPIOIDS may do more harm than good. Prolonged use of opioids are believed to amplify pain signals from the spinal cord, prolonging and and even intensifying discomfort. DISTRACTED WALKING pedestrians deaths increased 10% in the first half 2015 believed to be caused by people walking into traffic while playing with their smart phones. So much for multi-tasking.MARIJUANA may take a long term toll on the mind. researchers  found that it reduces blood flow to the mind, Yeah!! but who really cares anyway. TRAMPOLINES are dangerous. Did they really have to do a study to find this out. This was probably a study done by a group of researchers while smoking a joint.

Moral of this information is that we should strive to do the good things and avoid the bad things then even if we don't live longer we will be so bored that it will seem like we are living longer.   ENJOY THE NEW YEAR AND BEHAVE YOURSELF.
