This was one of my all time favorites as a kid (likely still is.) It was a Jim Henson production that was a redux of the Gift of the Magi with muppets and bluegrass music. Emmet and his ma want to get each other presents but don't have money. Separately, they enter the local talent show to win the $50 prize. I won't spoil the ending for you though.
