It is important to fill a position on Tag Days, but it is even more beneficial to tag in person and not send out employees in your place.  As members of the community our faces are recognizable and this increases the donations.  It seems that some people will start to walk past a tagger and then recognize a face and feel more comfortable in giving.....or maybe too embarrassed to not donate.  So dress warmly and put in your time.

Kudos to Thomas for jumping right into the life as a foreign exchange student.  He is very much at ease and this makes it much easier for strangers to interact with him.  We are very lucky to have him with us.  Remember we need host families.

So the weatherman says that snow is not far away.  So get out the bird feeder and put it in a sunny spot near some bushes or evergreens for shelter.  The birds like to have cover near the feeder so that they can hide from hawks between bouts of feeding.  Also remember that once you start to feed the birds they become dependent on that as a food source.  So you must continue to feed once you start.  Another help for them is a source of water.  Get an electric heat block for the bird bath and keep fresh water available for them.
