Remember, as Greeter this week, you need to arrive early to ZOOM members, visiting Rotarians, and guests (collect guest lunch fee of $15.00). You also provide the pre-meal prayer, check attendance, announce guests and visiting Rotarians, manage the marble drawing and provide "Fun & Frolics." If you are unable to fulfill your greeter obligation, please contact the next person in the greeter rotation to take your place.
We had a high-water mark of 44 potential attendees sign up for the outdoor installation dinner event at Porkies. And then came the rain from all sides and all directions. Sending everyone back home with their sandwiches and wet clothes. Aly Cullotta was awarded the Service above Self scholarship. The great big $2,500 check was presented to her and then the clouds opened up; in celebration of course!
Marlene began her rain, I mean reign, with her installation dinner evening getting canceled because of construction delays at Ethereal and ending with a monsoon at Porkies. Oh, and then this novel new virus comes along which zooms us to working from home and or solitary confinement at our office. Marlene handled it all with calm and ease. Thank you Marlene for a year well done!
Several awards were announced after we all reconvened via ZOOM.
Perfect Attendance Award winners to date: Larry Hansen 41 years. Ron Jarvis 40 years. (There are club members younger than these two numbers!) Mimi Motroni 10 years. Peter Knapp 5 years. Phil McGown 3 years. Marlene Frisbie 1 year (more dedication).
Quiet Rotarian (except when having a beer) – John Buckley! Well-deserved for all the behind the scenes dedication John provided to our Rotary Club.
Spirit of Service – Jackie Speciale! Well-deserved for innovative and quick thinking on how we as Rotarians could help other organizations in need. Plus using her contacts to get PPE items that were in scarce supply to people who needed them.
Rotarian of the Year – Santa Claus aka Chris Cantwell! First, he recommends that our club continue the Santa’s Hut on the square. Then he puts in countless hours listening to eager young children talk about what they would like for Christmas. Throw in on top of all that Youth Service Director and Chris has demonstrated to all of us Service above Self. Well-deserved Chris.
Your new slate of leaders: President – Mimi; President Elect – Shawna; Secretary – Dave B and Treasurer – Roscoe. Past President – Marlene. Board of Directors: Chris- Youth Services; Laura- Club Service; Jackie- Community Service; Peter K- Vocational Service; Phil- International Service.
WASH YOUR HANDS. FREQUENTLY. WEAR YOUR FACE COVERING.
KEEP 6 FEET APART FROM OTHERS. This is easy and we all look hilarious in our face coverings! Installation Dinner was our club’s first attempt at reintegration in person.
Our next attempt is this Friday Night. READ the following information that Marlene emailed to the club on June 28, 2020. And see you there!
Our Club will have a Phase 4-compliant First Friday Social Gathering next Friday, July 3rd. There are a lot of important details below, please take the time to read this thoroughly:
When: Friday, July 3rd 5:30 - 7:30 pm (come as early as 5:00pm)
RAIN DATE: In case of rain, we will try again on Friday, 7/10.
Where: Marlene Frisbie's yard, 17202 US Highway 14, Woodstock
What to Bring: Your own beverage of choice, whatever you need to drink it in, and a chair
Parking: Please use the marked parking area, follow the path to the front yard and then walk around the left (west) side of the house to join us in the backyard. A limited number of cars may park right in front of the house; please save those spots for those who may need them, but it that's you, please feel free to park there!
Phase 4 Guidelines: Please plan to wear a mask. Masks may be removed for drinking and eating. There's lots of room in the backyard, so please respect six-foot distancing.
Snacks: We will have lots of prepackaged chips and snacks.
Detailed directions: If you haven't been here before and you are using a GPS system, please be sure to enter my address as shown above. Using another version such as Rt 14 may send you to a non-existent location. Coming from Woodstock, our driveway is immediately (that means IMMEDIATELY) after the parking lot for Old Rivers Inn, on the right-hand side of the road. There's a red 17202 sign at the driveway. If you get to Dunham Road, you've missed the driveway. It's a long driveway back and you won't see the house when you first turn. Please drive slowly in the driveway and be careful at the curve, in case someone else is leaving. If you have any questions about this request, talk to Kent Frisbie.
Other Questions: Don't hesitate to reach out to me (Marlene) if there's something I haven't addressed.
