We have many exciting things upcoming! Our club will have several opportunities to not only get involved but also share fellowship, “goodwill and better friendships,” and camaraderie. (A) Saturday, May 20: Jeep on the Square! – at the Farmer’s Market; two, 2-person shifts (8:00 - 10:30 & 10:30 - 1:00). We have volunteers for the first shift but need two additional volunteers from 10:30 until 1:00. You can sign up using this {genie} link. (B) Tuesday, May 23: Jeep on the Square! – “The Last Dance” at the Farmer’s Market. We need help at two, 2-person shifts (8:00 - 10:30 & 10:30 - 1:00). Please sign up using this link for the shifts on Tuesday. (C) Friday, May 26: The Jeep Raffle Extravaganza! Come one, come all, and invite your friends! Ortmann’s will be hosting us beginning around 5:30, and the drawing for the Grand Prize and the four additional $500 cash prizes will begin at 6:30. We’re excited to have Stix & Noodles Food Truck providing tasty nibbles like egg rolls and such from their eclectic menu. (D) Saturday, June 10: Native Garden Workday Volunteer Opportunity*. Mimi sent out information about the May 13 workday at the McHenry County Administration Building. On Saturday, June 10, the volunteerism continues! Scott Kuykendall, Water Resources Specialist of McHenry County Planning and Development provided these details: “We are scheduled to install the native plants in the parking lot islands from 9:00 am to Noonish on Saturday June 10. The parking lot islands are behind (north side of) the McHenry County Administration Building (address and map below*). We will be planting about 500 live plugs in four parking lot islands. Each island will be covered with a straw blanket that will show where each of the plants will be installed. The sketch below shows the general layout we will follow. We will have a large number of gardening hand trowels but avid gardeners are welcome to bring their own. Snacks/beverages will be provided during the workday followed by a picnic afterwards (grilled hot dogs, potato salad, etc.). (E) Wednesday, June 28: District Governor Mary Bak's Installation Dinner at The Glen Club in Glenview. Tickets are $65 ea., and we are trying to gather a Woodstock Rotary Table Ensemble. If you are interested in attending and want to be part of the club’s table, please contact John Buckley (Jbuckley@independencehealth.org). RSVP no later than June 17 (one month from today). (F) Friday, June 30: Rotary Club of Woodstock Installation Dinner.
