No meeting on September 2. Enjoy the day by helping someone to keep up the Rotary spirit. September 5, first Friday event at Shadow Brewing. Be there or be Square. And down the road, October 1, Ale Fest supporting John Buckley's favorite nonprofit. Volunteer to help or support by attending. Buckley's not in charge so the weather should be fine. It was good to see the Exchange Program back in action. I recently spoke with my brother-in-law, a Rotarian from Southern Illinois, and their district never curtailed the program. They currently have an exchange student from France hosted by the Rotary Club of Marshall, Illinois. It will be good to have students hosted by our club again. If you have interest in hosting, please contact Joe. Thank-you to the members that turned out to clean up the Rotary Triangle. We had many hands and 2 hours of labor helped the appearance tremendously. We noticed the Rotary sign still listed our meeting place as the Country Club. That will be updated with an overlay with the correct meeting place listed. Country Ramblings: The evenings feel like September so Fall can't be far away. The prairie colors have changed from the purple of Bee-Balm and the yellows of Black-eyed-Suzans, to the lilac color of Trefoil and Cone flowers, to the yellows of Goldenrod and the blues of Big Blue Stem and Chickory. Soon the beautiful blue color of Asters will be visible. It's been a beautiful summer for wildflowers. Nesting is pretty well over for this year with Goldfinches, Cedar Wax wings, and a few Doves still feeding young. Soon the migrants will be coming through out area. It makes for a great time to walk with a pair of binoculars. Excellent time to check out the Conservation District's sites. Long under-wear weather will soon be upon us, so get out there and enjoy the outside. |
