Country Ramblings: Warm days and cool nights signal Fall has arrived. Great time to be outside and walk. Lots of color will be showing up shortly. The Conservation District properties are great places to spend time walking and viewing nature or better yet communing with nature. My son, Michael, attended a small college in Northern Wisconsin which is very environmentally oriented. I get news letters from them every so often with interesting articles and tid bits of information. This past week I got a letter with a quote from a poem written by Gary Snyder in his collection called "Turtle Island". It was written in 1974, a time of societal turmoil. I thought it was appropriate for our current times. To climb these crests one word to you, to you and your children: stay together learn the flowers go light An elegant reminder of what sustains us in the face of significant challenges - community, an intimate knowledge of our place in the world, the persistent proliferation of beauty and an ability to shed the trappings that weigh us down. Stimulating thoughts to ponder. As John would say---Peace.
