How To Complete A Make-Up

1

Read a variety of current articles in our Programs section and/or choose articles from our Archived Programs list and/or information from our Avenues of Service pages. You will be required to answer questions.  There is space on the makeup request form for up to three articles to be reviewed, however you will need to read more than three to meet your 30 minute visit obligation.

2

At the end of your 30 minute visit click on Make-up Request Form from the drop-down menu at top of page OR the bottom of each make-up program.

3

Read Makeup Request Form carefully, and follow instructions. A Make-Up Form will appear once you press the SUBMIT button (one time only) and an email copy will be sent to the email address you provided.

PRINT YOUR MAKE-UP FORM

Once your make-up appears, if you know the email address, you can also click on File, Send and email a copy to your club secretary.

Remember, as Greeter this week, you need to arrive at Woodstock Country Club early to greet members, visiting Rotarians, and guests (collect guest lunch fee of $14.00).  You also provide the pre-meal prayer, check attendance, announce guests and visiting Rotarians, manage the marble drawing and provide "Fun & Frolics."  If you are unable to fulfill your greeter obligation, please contact the next person in the greeter rotation to take your place.

Club news
I left information about Riko in this news letter because we need to be reminded that she is our club guest and we need to pay attention to making her feel at home.  Be sure and schedule time to spend with her and fine out what she wants to see and do while in our country.

September is the annual Tom Nuelle Golf outing.  Many of you didn't know Tom so here are a few stories.  First, Tom would appear at the golf outings all dressed in his Cardinals brilliant all red outfit ready for golf.  What a sight. Complete with red cap and stockings.  On the par 3 hole you could fine John Radka (former Dist. 200 financial officer) dressed as a woman collecting bets on closest to the pin.  And my favorite Tom story occurred when we decided to charter a fishing boat on Lake Michigan and get club members to partake.  Larry Bohn took his van and we had Tom and his son, myself and four other club members.  We were to take our own refreshments.  Tom liked to drink beer so he asked how much beer we had in the cooler.  I replied 3 six packs.  Tom insisted that was not enough and that we stop and buy more which we did.  We got to the boat and out we went into a rough water lake with 15 MPH winds.  We got about 500 yards out and Tom was hung over the rail chumming.  He never got to drink any beer and was sick the whole morning.  Best part of the day was his son caught the biggest fish--a nice 18# King Salmon.
Country Ramblings
The days are comfortable and the nights are turning chilly.  Feels like the middle of September already.  Most of the baby birds are long fledged, but the Goldfinches are just nesting.  Then wait till the milkweed and thistles all have dry seeds so they have plenty of food for the new hatchlings.  This year has seen a big upswing in the Monarch butterfly population.  Good news for the environment.  The Sand Hill Cranes will soon be heard heading south with the Geese close behind.  Keep ypur bird feeders full and watch for the migrating song birds stopping for a snack on their trip south.  And get out there and enjoy the weather.

I had a chance to help the defenders with their styroform recycling program last week.  I didn't know that service was available.  All clean styroform can be taken to the plastic tent in the back of the City of Woodstock's street department on Washington St.  Once a week the collected material is sorted, bagged, and trucked to a recycling plant in Crystal Lake.  So keep it out of the garbage and drop it off at the collection site.
