The picture in last weeks bulletin taken at the bowling alley on first Friday social night was a great example of how much fun first Friday events have become. It was a great turn out and a great time was had by all. To those members who haven't been coming to the social hour, give it a try. Bring spouses. It's a great chance to interact with both halves of the couple. At last week's meeting, Dave announced that he had received a resignation letter from John Hudson. John has been a long-time member of our club and will be missed. Send John an e-mail at josus@comcast.net and wish him well. The plan is to have John be the guest speaker at one of our meetings and share with us some of his experiences working with the civil rights movement. On the subject of guest speakers, Luke needs suggestions for speakers. Help him out. Another topic discussed at the last meeting was re-starting the exchange program. We have two families lined up to act as host families and now need a third. The club has been very active in this program in the past and it would be great to get it going again. Having hosted several exchange students in our home in the past, I can say it is an amazing experience. It is important to understand as a club, we all need to support the program. This means providing taxi service when needed to get the students to events. It means taking them out for a day or an evening to an event or just to your home for dinner. And it means interacting with them at the Rotary meetings and making them feel comfortable. |
