THE FOLLOWING IS THE LATEST NEWS ON CCH THAT WAS PROVIDED BY JOHN BUCKLEY.    

 

We are down to the final days and moments for CCH. The food has been ordered and gift cards bought. Tom, Al and their crew have the warehouse ready. Shawna and Denise have the list in order. Laura has the Moose lined up breakfast. There are still some last minute tweaks and adjustments, but Saturday morning at 8:00 am we start loading cars for the 51st time. 

We are doing two deliveries per car. That means we will need about 550 delivery runs Saturday. Which means, this year - more than ever - we will need drivers. If you don't have a specific job (and you should know by now) you should plan on making deliveries.

The project is moving with new guidelines and many new precautions.  Most importantly you can't just show up to work. We are limited in the number of people in the area at one time.  So you have to sign up for a specific time to be there ahead of time. Toy sorting has started and is continuing every day until completed.  The prepackaged food boxes will be delivered to the warehouse on Friday.  We will not have to pack food baskets. Very important.  D-day, the 19th. will run quite differently.  Limit of 2 deliveries per car at a time.  Prepackaged food boxes will be loaded from an outside station into the cars coming in, in two lines.  Limited handlers occupying one station.  Toy bags will be where the food baskets were last year and will be brought out by a small number of handlers.  If you have friends that want to help, tell them we need delivery drivers especially people that are willing to make multiple trips.  Limiting the number of families to two per delivery will reduce the number of workers needed to load the cars and also limit the confusion.  That means we will have to make approximately 900 deliveries.  The word for the day as we load the cars will be "Please come back and make additional deliveries"  We will make adjustments as needed to get the job done.  But we need everyone to cooperate and take direction from the warehouse bosses.  As the boss says "My way or the Highway".  Just kidding Tom.  We will get the job done.

 

Please check your e-mails regularly for updates and changes.  Also, review the lists of business supporters and patronize there businesses.  Thank them for supporting the project and the community.  This is very important to let them know how much we appreciate their support.  We will be publishing a list of these businesses in the paper thanking them.

 

Keep Ann in your thoughts.  She is holding her own and able to walk some again.  Further chemo is coming for her after a brief respite.  

 

It has been a crazy year. But we have survived.  Let's finish the year strong and make this project another success story.

Santa needs his Elves!!

 

Santa begins his visits to all the good boys and girls this Friday. As we have mentioned (once or maybe twice) before we need to provide elfin help to Santa. This is part of our commitment to the City for providing a space for Santa to do his work.

 

This year, being an elf is an inside job - unlike Tag Days. We are not quite halfway there. This is also a chance for you to get some up close (but not closer than 6ft) time with Santa. Bring your lists and show him that you are a good boy or girl.
