Stories
Updates, News, Reminders: March 11
ON A VERY SAD NOTE

It is with a very heavy heart, that we say another goodbye to one of our own Woodstock Rotarians. Denise sent a “Between the Spins” email out on Monday, March 9. The full message follows:

It is with great sadness that I share the passing of our fellow Rotarian, Jean Radford.

Jean was a valued and active member of our club whose kindness, creativity, and dedication touched many of our projects and events. She played a key role in spearheading our monthly book distribution program, helping bring the joy of reading to children in our community. Jean was also a familiar and friendly presence at our food truck events, always willing to lend a hand wherever it was needed.

Many of us will also remember Jean’s creativity and eye for design through her beautiful interior work on our Santa Hut, which brought so much warmth and holiday spirit to families who visited.

Jean’s commitment to service and her generosity of time and talent truly embodied the spirit of Rotary. She will be deeply missed by all of us who had the privilege of serving alongside her.

Please keep Jean’s family and loved ones in your thoughts during this difficult time.

Once details are available, I will share with the club.

In Service,
Denise

A HAPPIER NOTE:
Official certificates of membership were handed out just this morning, March 11, to the students who will be part of the Interact Club of Woodstock North High School. The “Charter Breakfast” and small ceremony was at 8:00 a.m. and hopefully we will get a few photos from the event to share out with the club. Exciting stuff!

RAFFLES, PRIZES, OH MY!
Well, as you hopefully know, the 6th Annual Jeep Raffle is in full gear. Have you purchased your tickets, yet? Whether the answer is “yes” or “no,” all the information is found at our site: https://woodstockrotarycharities.com/ -- and please share with others! If you need physical tickets to sell, contact Tom McGrath.

The winners of Early Bird Two were: Ticket 347 (Marie M.) and Ticket 601 (Drew F.). Both winners were from Woodstock, which is always great to see.

Just one more official EARLY BIRD DRAWING left! Then, the big drawing:
  • April 3: Offsides Sports Bar and Grill at 6:00 PM
  • May 29: Ortmann’s Red Iron Tavern at 6:00 PM for the Grand Prize Drawing

One more thing (again): RAGs -- Nope, not those dirty towel things. I'm talking Rotary Action Groups! I (Natalie Ziemba) am a proud member of ADRAG (Alzheimer's and Dementia Rotary Action Group). If you want to know more about the 25+ Rotary Action Groups -- that range from those about disease prevention and treatment to peacebuilding and conflict prevention to basic education and literacy -- visit this link.
