A BIG Thankyou to Jean and Dave for providing gardening labor for our wildflower garden planting project at the Court House Administration Building. Hopefully Mother Nature will help us out with a little bit off moisture to get the plantings of to a good start. It's great to see the huge member turn out since we transitioned back to the WCC. It was obviously a popular decision. The year is winding down for President Dave. His time commitment has been noteworthy. His presence at club projects has set a good example for all club members to follow. Thankyou Dave. And, of course, we transition into the new administration with a party at the Frisbie compound on the 30th. Please note the instructions concerning bringing your own beverages and chairs. If we get rain in the interim, one might want to include some mosquito repellent. Country Ramblings: It's DRY in case you hadn't noticed. This is the kind of weather that a bird bath is appreciated for your feathered friends. I've noticed the birds even sitting under the sprinkler on a hot day. And even the Hummingbird hovers in the fine spray of the sprinkler. Keep the water clean and you will be rewarded with a fun display of drinking and bathing. Plant watering is a necessity just to keep them alive. Do it regularly. Dogs can become over-heated rapidly in this weather and should not be exercised vigorously in this hot environment. Evenings have cooled off enough for a pleasant walk with your partner or your dog or both. And because of the dry weather we have no mosquitoes. So do it now before the mosquitoes arrive. See you Friday at the WCC. |
