The CCH food box packing event at American Ad Bag was an efficient success! Many students from the high school were in attendance along with community members, Rotarians and former teachers. One notable person in attendance was a former recipient of CCH. Lynn Fiala and I were standing behind her in the line and while we were waiting our turn to pack boxes, we struck up a conversation with her. We were curious as this former recipient was very nicely dressed, wearing a crown and a sash that said she was Miss Northern Suburbs. We found out that she came with her 8th grade class to pack toy bags when a classmate held up a bag and said “Annie, here is your bag”. 8th grader!!!
Annie went on to say that she won Miss Woodstock 2016 (I was able to verify this online) and then went on to win Miss McHenry County 2017. She has won several regional contests and this will be her final attempt at trying to win Miss Illinois. She told us that 28 years old is the cut off. She made time to attend and help out.
