A steady hand, and a lifetime of service—Jim Campion’s legacy lives on in our community.

James Allen “Jim” Campion, 79, of Woodstock, formerly of Rockford, passed away at home surrounded by love on April 19, 2026.
Jim devoted his life to quiet service—both to his Rotary club and to the broader community. He never sought recognition, preferring to work behind the scenes, ensuring everything came together just right. A man of unwavering integrity, Jim lived his values every day.
He served as Rotary Club President in 1984–1985, remembered fondly as “the president who told riddles,” while faithfully continuing the club’s programs and projects. True to form, Jim led with humility, consistency, and purpose.
Jim’s commitment to service was extraordinary. He served on the 4th of July Fireworks Committee for 31 consecutive years, helping raise tens of thousands of dollars to bring memorable celebrations to Woodstock. Even as his health declined, he remained engaged—sharing stories, lending a hand, and showing up whenever he could.
He also gave generously of his time to the CCH, where he was a familiar and welcome presence year after year. Even in later years, he would arrive with his lawn chair, ready to help, often saying with a smile, “Put me to work.”
Jim will be remembered for his dedication, humility, and the lasting impact he made on those around him. His legacy lives on in the community he helped strengthen and the many lives he touched.
He is survived by his wife Barb, his three daughters, and their families.
In accordance with Jim’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Catholic Church, 312 Lincoln Avenue in Woodstock on Thursday, April 30, 2026 at 10:30 AM, with burial to follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Woodstock.
