The Rotary Club of Woodstock is now accepting applications for its annual William “Bill” Frejd Scholarship program. Bill Frejd, a founding member of the Rotary Club of Woodstock, was a machinist by trade, and the owner of R&B Metal Products.   Bill believed that skills learned in the different vocational trades were of fundamental benefit to the society, and an essential part of a productive community.  It was his wish to support scholarships for life-long vocational trades.
The Vocational Scholarship is to provide educational opportunities for men and women who are preparing for careers that require LESS THAN A FOUR-YEAR DEGREE (Associate Degree, Diploma or Certificate) in order to enter into those careers and become successful and productive. The Rotary Club of Woodstock will be offering local scholarship(s) for a possible minimum award of $500.00 and maximum award of $1,500.00.
One application awarded by the Rotary Club of Woodstock will advance to the Rotary District 6440 office for the possibility of an additional scholarship award of $1,500.
Scholarships will be awarded to full-time students enrolled in a vocational degree or certificate program at an accredited school. This award will be used for tuition only, NOT for fees, books, tools, supplies, food, travel or personal expense.  The duration of the scholarship will be one year and all funds from the scholarship will be paid directly to the institution they choose to attend.
To be eligible, a student must live within Woodstock Community School District #200, be a senior at: 1) Woodstock High School; 2) Woodstock North High School; 3) Marian Central Catholic High School; or 4) be Home Schooled, and receive their Diploma on the scheduled commencement and/or graduation date for the 2019-20 academic year.
To apply, please see the download files of the Description, Requirements and Application to the right side of this home page.
Applications must be received by The Rotary Club of Woodstock on/before Friday, March 6, 2020, by 5:00 p.m., Chicago Time.
Applications with supporting documents are to be delivered via email only to: PGK@PeterKnapp.com and MarleneFrisbie@gmail.com
For more information, please contact Peter G. Knapp, Vocational Service Director at 815-338-9211.
The Rotary Club of Woodstock is now accepting applications for the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) Conference.
RYLA was established by Rotary International to build the next generation of future leaders for high school students who have demonstrated leadership skills or shown the potential to be leaders by their active participation in groups and/or organizations.  Students attending RYLA will be given an opportunity to explore and further develop these leadership skills.  Participants will be involved in a 3-day program held at Edwards Camp & Conference Center in East Troy, Wisconsin on either one of two weekends held on March 12-15 or April 2-5 of 2020.  During the 3-day RYLA conference, students will explore their own leadership style, personal strengths, learn skills to help identify community needs and develop an appreciation for community service.
The Rotary Club of Woodstock will award sponsorships for 6 (six) high school students to attend the 2020 RYLA Conference.  Sponsorships will cover costs for transportation, food, supplies, and camp housing.  To be eligible, a student must live within Woodstock Community School District #200 enrolled as a Freshman-Senior attending either 1) Woodstock High School; 2) Woodstock North High School; and/or 3) Marian Central Catholic High School.  Grade appropriate Home School students may also submit applications.
All necessary application forms are available at all 3 High Schools and from Pete Michling.
Applications must be received by The Rotary Club of Woodstock on or before Wednesday February 5th.  Applications are to be delivered regular mail to:  Rotary Club of Woodstock, P.O. Box 53, Woodstock, IL. 60098 ATTN:  Pete Michling or hand delivered to Pete Michling at 101 North Throop St. Woodstock, IL. 60098
For more information, please contact Pete Michling, RYLA Committee Chair at 815-338-9600
